The nominations for the award came from individuals in the industry during the months of June and July, Steve Weedon was one of three finalists that went before an independent, international judging panel.
The award was for founding and establishing The Recycler Trade Magazine in September 1992 to serve the emerging laser and inkjet cartridge remanufacturing industry in Europe; as well as for holding CEO and senior management positions since 1975 in Europe, China and the USA with various printer OEMs as well as at Katun Corp, Static Control, Cartridge World, Print-Rite Europe and Print-Rite Pelikan Solutions. The award is presented annually and in memory of imaging pioneer Art Diamond to an individual who demonstrates a unique enterprising, pioneering, or entrepreneurial spirit that advances the imaging industry.
The announcement and presentation was made via video a link by Eve Diamond, from California USA to the UK as COVID-19 protocols prevented Steve’s travel to the China Show this year.
Steve Weedon (PRPS, CEO) commented: “I am flabbergasted, and totally taken by surprise, I knew Art Diamond very well and he gave me a lot of support to get the magazine started in Europe. To receive this award named after Art Diamond is truly the biggest honour this industry has to offer”
